Custom Options for Melhanna Woven Wood

Below are the custom options available for the Melhanna Woven Wood. Use the pulldown menu to the right to navigate to an option category.

Brackets

Hold-Down

Hold-down brackets are mounted at the bottom of a shade to hold it in place. Typically used on doors or in windy locations to prevent the window coverings from flapping in the wind or during the opening or closing of the door. Hold-down brackets for woven woods requires a dowel rod be used for a bottom rail. Therefore hold down brackets must be ordered on the original order as they can not be added to the shade post production.

Used to add an extra 3/8" to 1/2" of projection to the head rail. Spacer blocks are usually used to avoid slight obstructions such as molding around a window on outside mount installations.

Lift Cord/Cord Lock

Allows you to raise and lower your blind or shade and the cord lock is the mechanism that holds the window covering at any given position. When choosing whether to place the lift cord on the right or left, consider how often you'll be operating the blind or shade and the placement of furniture in your room.

Blinds less than 2-1/2" wide will have center tilt only and cannot be raised or lowered.

The controls for both shades are accessible from the front of the woven wood. The twin head rail can be used with our woven woods using any of our Alana shades, Solanna styles: Glimmer, Shimmer, Elements, and Moonbeam and Deanna styles: Corona, Devine, Ambrosia, Passion and Moonglow. The twin head rail adds an additional alternative to those who want a privacy liners with their woven wood giving additional insulation and privacy.

Inside Mounts are mounted within the window frame. On inside mounts deductions are taken from the width measurement to allow the product to fit inside the window frame and provide adequate operating clearance. Minimum depth requirements vary depending on product.


Installation Type

Inside or Outside Mount refers to whether the product will be mounted within the window frame (inside mount) or on the wall, window trim or molding surrounding the window (outside mount).

On inside mounts, deductions are taken from the width measurement to allow the product to fit inside the window frame and provide adequate operating clearance. Minimum depth requirements vary depending on product.

On outside mounts you will want to overlap or extend the window covering beyond the window opening. You will need to determine how much overlap you want and add that amount to the window opening width and / or height measurements.

Specifically designed for Angle Top or A-frame Windows. A-Frame woven woods shades are operational. They will raise and lower up or down to the point where the angle begins. The minimum width is 12" with a maximum length of the long side 96". The maximum width of the sloping top or bottom is 84". The maximum top angle is 60 degrees, while the maximum bottom angle is 45 degrees.

Woven Wood Arches are constructed with grommets near the perimeter of the arch. The Arch has a bottom rail with a standard fabric fold and is installed with cup hooks. Perfect arches are those where the width is exactly twice the height and the radius of the circle is constant at all points. Inside and Outside mount Arches can be ordered. Remember to add the desired overlap to your measurements. Perfect arches do not require templates.

Cut outs are frequently used to avoid the bulnose tiles that protrude into kitchen and bathroom windows. Cut outs are also use when an air conditioner, heating register, or other object interferes with the slats, louvers or shades. Be sure to provide exact width, length and cut-out measurements on the order to ensure proper fit.

Please note that the exact cut out size or placement on Pleated or Cellular shade products is not guaranteed. The position of the cut out is altered when shade fabrics relax and the cell location is not in the same position as it was when the shade was manufactured. This may also cause contact fraying.
